Tennis Québec’s sanctioned tournaments

Although Tennis Québec welcomes the return of sports competitions as of February 28th, the impossibility of holding events before this date unfortunately forces us to cancel the following tournaments:

As for the Quebec Indoor Championships, they cannot be held as planned in February.

However, considering the importance of these tournaments for the selection of the best players who will represent Quebec at the Fischer Junior Nationals, Tennis Québec has decided to postpone them to March.

Here are the new dates for the 2022 Quebec Indoor Championships, as well as the sites where they will be held:

Note: The registration deadlines have been extended accordingly.

  • U12 Quebec Indoor Championships, St-Augustin: March 4-7, 2022Registration deadline:February 23, 4:00 pm (Eastern Time)
  • U14 Quebec Indoor Championships, to be confirmed: March 11-14, 2022Registration deadline:March 2, 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)
  • U16 Quebec Indoor Championships, Beauce:March 4-7, 2022Registration deadline: February 23, 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)
  • U18 Quebec Indoor Championship, Montreal (IDS):March 11-14, 2022Registration deadline: March 2, 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Tennis Québec’s Commission des entraîneurs decided to allow 24 players (instead of 16) to take part in the Quebec Indoor Championships. Here is the adjusted format:

Eight (8) players will have an automatic spot in the 16-player main draw.

o  The selection of these eight players will be done in the following order:

1.      Top 4 players in the National Bank Junior Rankings; then

2.      Top 4 players in Tennis Québec’s selection circuit points ranking.

The 16 other best ranked players (National Bank junior ranking) on the date of the draw will have to play a pre-round on Friday.

The eight (8) losing players on Friday will see their tournament end.

The eight (8) winners on Friday will complete the 16-player main draw which will begin on Saturday.

Since it will be possible to play the Quebec Indoor Championships, we remind you that “the selection for the Canadian Championships will be based on the two (2) best results among the three (3) tournaments of the selection circuit that took place (the two Fall 2021 stages and the 2022 Quebec Indoor Championships)”.

The postponement of the 2022 Quebec Indoor Championships also forces Tennis Québec to make changes to the following tournaments scheduled in March:

COUPE JUNIOR BANQUE NATIONALE 14-18 ANS ET CIRCUIT BALLE VERTE 9-10 ANS – MAR – Beauce

o   The tournament is postponed to a later date (to be confirmed), since Tennis Beauce is hosting the U16 Quebec Indoor Championships from March 4th to 7th.

TOURNOI 14 ANS – GARÇONS – MAR – St-Augustin

o   The sanction level of the tournament will be changed from 3.5* to 3*, since the U14 Quebec Indoor Championships will be held at the same time.

Please see the tournaments online for more information. A full refund will be offered to participants who wish to unregister following these changes.
